Pitching

Pitchers will do daily routines to reinforce skills, but caution will be taken to not over-work. Special workouts & coaching will be offered to pitchers at all levels (beginning to advanced) throughout each day.

Skill, Competition, & Fun

Positive reinforcement, individual feedback, drill variety, competitive games, and personal challenges all go into making this experience fun while improving player's skills.

Between the Lines

Softball is a sport loaded with mental games within the game. Coach Gervais will take this time to provide breakout classroom sessions to teach the finer points of the game. Discussions, handouts, notes, video, and lecture will be used to examine points such as:

  • Attitude: What do coaches look for? How can you still help yourself or your team even if you strike out or lose a game?
  • Hitting: Preparing, knowing the pitch, making small adjustments
  • Pitching: Deception, reacting to situtations, pitching to the umpire
  • Short game: Types of bunts, slap or bunt? Types of slides, baserunning tips
  • Defense: Making the play before the play happens, adjusting to the batter
