Laughlin Honored with Outstanding Student-Athlete Award

JOHNSON, VT. – Women's volleyball senior captain Breanna Laughlin (San Jacinto, Calif.) was honored with the Outstanding Student-Athlete Award at a reception held for JSC students who completed their degree requirements in August and December 2016 on Wednesday night. The award is given annually to a student-athlete graduating in August or December who makes significant contributions on the playing surface, in the classroom, and in the community.

Laughlin was a three-year member of the Johnson State volleyball team, serving as captain all three years. She was also named to the North Atlantic Conference All-Conference First Team all three years. Laughlin is in the top-five of many of Johnson's all-time statistical categories, including first in kills (565), second in aces (138) and digs (478), and fourth in assists (35).

Laughlin graduates from Johnson with a 3.29 GPA. She has also been an active member of the Johnson community, working at the front desk of SHAPE and participating in community service activities. Laughlin's coach for her final season, Joan Porambo, said of her leadership, "It has not only been a pleasure coaching Breanna this past volleyball season, but also an experience that I was able to learn from and grow through as a coach. She is not just a player, she is a compassionate and driven leader, who possesses many traits which made her the ideal teammate and captain, and will make her a strong and successful Johnson State alumni."
