Johnson State Hosts Third Annual Special Olympics Basketball Tournament

Friends, family, and community members all gathered together on March 25, 2017 for the third annual Johnson State College Special Olympics basketball tournament. The events for the day took place in the Carter Gymnasium at Johnson State College.

There were multiple teams that came out and had a great day filled with basketball, friends, and dancing.

The day consisted of a skills training before the round robin tournament. Students from Johnson State College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), basketball teams, and other departments volunteered during the day. Volunteers were responsible for clock management, announcing, refereeing, team management, confessions and keeping a positive attitude throughout the day.

The event was very successful. More than four local Special Olympic teams participated and packed the gymnasium full of spectators.
