Nine Badgers Earn Fall All-Academic Honors

WATERVILLE, ME.-  Nine Northern Vermont University-Johnson studentathletes and a total of 153 student athletes have been named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) All-Academic Team after the fall 2018 semester.

The Badgers had 9 representatives for the NAC All-Academic Team. The All-Academic Team recognizes student athletes on varsity sports teams who have earned a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Student athletes must also have reached sophomore academic standing and competed in a minimum of two years of varsity competition at their institution. Each institution is responsible for submitting eligible student athletes for the All-Academic Team.

Men's golfer David Albright (Grantham, N.H.) and women's tennis player Mikayla Messier (Sheldon, Vt.) who were recognized as Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year in their respective sport were also honored on the All-Academic Team.

Sheldon Billings (Ossipee, N.H.), Emily Cass (Braintree, Vt.), Jessica Malskis (Jay, N.Y.), Nick Audet (Morrisville, Vt.), Jesse Streeter (Richmond, Vt.), and Delanie Clark (Tupper Lake, N.Y.) all earned honors for their outstanding performance in the classroom.

The academic team also consisted of 19 Sportsmanship Team honorees around the NAC. Sportsmanship Team selection and women's soccer player Christina Wheelock (Eden, Vt.) earned All-Academic honors. The NAC Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who positively affect the culture and environment of their sport and clearly demonstrate sportsmanship and integrity beyond the playing rules.
