Chad Copeland enters his third academic year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Northern Vermont University-Johnson in 2020-21.

Copeland has expanded upon NVU-Johnson's social media platforms and overall branding of the SHAPE facility, which are Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In 2018, Copeland launched the "Badger Signing Day" page that highlighted incoming recruited student-athletes. In 2018, Copeland facilitated the Johnson Athletics Hall of Fame Board that contributed to the branding of Carter Gymnasium.

In 2019, Copeland hosted the 2019 Granite City Shootout at the historic Barre Auditorium. The shootout featured the likes of Castleton University, Norwich University, NVU-Johnson, NVU-Lyndon and Vermont Technical College.

Copeland comes to NVU-Johnson as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications following one year as the Director of Athletics at Twinfield Union School in 2017. At Twinfield, Copeland was responsible for all facets of athletic operation for grades K-12.

Prior to his time at Twinfield Union School, Copeland was the athletics intern at Green Mountain College. Copeland did the majority of his work as an assistant Sports Information Director while also assisted the athletic staff in the coordination and management of games and practices.

In 2016, Copeland also spent time as the operational intern at Spartan Arena where he was responsible for coordinating and scheduling for the arena.

Copeland is a 2017 graduate from Castleton University, earning a Master of Science in Athletic Leadership degree and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration degree. Copeland was a standout athlete at Castleton University where he was a member on the men’s basketball team from 2012-2017. Copeland played in 117 games, while starting 93 of those games. He ranks fourth all time in points, third in rebounds and fourth in blocked shots.

He has worked multiple summer basketball camps including Kevin Ollie’s Basketball Camp (University of Connecticut), Paul Culpo’s Basketball Camp (Castelton University), Nebraska Wesleyan University Elite Camp (Nebraska Wesleyan), John Becker Basketball Camp (University of Vermont)and is the Director of the Central Vermont Hoop Camp.
