Badgers Hold Off Hornets for 77-73 Win

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College picked up a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory on Saturday, their first of the season, by holding off visiting Lyndon State College 77-73 on Saturday in men's basketball action.  The Badgers are now 1-8 overall, 1-2 NAC while Lyndon stands at 0-9, 0-3 NAC.

JSC was paced by sophomore's Scott Moran (Orange, Conn./Amity) and Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) who each scored 17 points with Hickey just missing a double-double with nine rebounds.  Junior wing Cody Camisa (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) and freshman forward Cory Chase (Milton, Vt./Milton) each added 12 points for the Badgers.

Lyndon saw freshman Asa Smith (Cheltenham, Md./Pope Paul VI) score a game-high 22 points and grab nine rebounds while junior forward Jason Gray (East Thetford, Vt./Thetford) supplied 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman guard Richie Hackett (Barton, Vt./Lake Region) chipped in with 12 points.

Johnson State's efforts were keyed all day by junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) who finished with game-high's in assists (eight) and steals (five).  Bousono and the Badgers took a five-point lead into halftime, saw it grow to as much as 18 points in the second half, but a late Lyndon surge got the Hornets to within four points late before the time fully elapsed.

The contest wrapped up the fall semester schedule for each team as both teams will break for exams next week.  Both teams resume in January with a travel weekend at Thomas College and the University of Maine-Farmington respectively.
