JOHNSON, Vt. – Visiting Castleton State College forced 27 Johnson State College turnovers and used 17 3-point field goals to key a 106-82 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball victory on Thursday night in Johnson. The Spartans improve to 8-7 overall, 7-1 while Johnson dips to 3-12, 3-6 NAC.
Johnson was led by freshman Cory Chase (Milton, Vt./Milton) (pictured) and his 16 points and nine rebounds while sophomore Billy Boyd (Hardwick, Vt./Hazen) added 15 points. Juniors Cody Camisa (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) and Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) each reached double-figures with 11 and 10 points respectively to support the JSC offense.
Castleton saw freshman Mark Pryzbylkowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) knock down six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 23 points with 20 of them coming in the first half. Mark Comstock (Rutland, Vt./Rutland) added 15 points and eight rebounds, Chad Pulver (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony) scored 12 points, and Greg Hughes (West Rutland, Vt./West Rutland) tossed in 11 points for the Spartans.
With Johnson trailing by five with 4:52 remaining in the first half 33-28 Castleton would use close the half on a 17-5 run to take the 17-point bulge into the locker room. The Badgers would get as only as close 12 points on a pair of occasions in the second half but Castleton would pull away for the easy win.
Johnson moves on to play at Green Mountain College on Saturday at 3:00 pm while Castleton looks toward a Saturday match up at home against Lyndon State College at 3:00 pm
