JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's basketball team defeated Lyndon State College 92-71 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym.
The Badgers improve to 7-10 (4-7 NAC) on the season while the Hornets move to 2-15 (2-9 NAC).
1st HALF
The Badgers gained an early advantage, taking a 19-9 lead seven minutes into the game. Lyndon went on an 11-3 run over the next four minutes to reduce the Johnson lead to 22-20. The teams traded baskets over the next two minutes, before Johnson used a 9-4 run to push their lead back to 7. Johnson was able to go up by as much as 13 with three and a half minutes left in the half, but the Hornets battled to cut the deficit to 46-38 going into the intermission.
2nd HALF
Johnson came out strong off the break, outscoring Lyndon 16-7 over the first five and a half minutes to go up 62-45. The Badgers dominated play over the next seven minutes to take a 77-50 lead with eight minutes left and cruised the rest of the way to the 92-71 victory.
