Badgers Fall in First Game of NVU Tip-Off Classic

LYNDONVILLE, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team fell in their first regular season game of the season to College of St. Joseph by a score of 80-74. Tyhee Taylor (Philadelphia, PA) was named NVU-Johnson's player of the game in the first game of the NVU Tip-off Classic.

 The Badgers were led by freshman newcomers Tyhee Taylor and Winston Jones (Los Angeles, CA). Taylor and Jones each contributed 18 points each for the Badgers, while Jones added 18 rebounds. NVU-Johnson had a six point lead after the first half but slowed down in the second half by only scoring 29 points and giving the Fighting Saints 41 points in the second half. 

 Donell Shaw (Washington, DC) led the team in rebounds with 11. Overall the Badgers shot 40.6% from the field and 32.0% from behind the arc. The Fighting Saints shot 49.2% from the field and 34.4% from behind the arc.

 College of St. Joseph broke away from a 67-67 tie, colsing the game on a 13-7 run to defeat NVU-Johnson. The Saints improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Badgers fell to 0-1.  Charles Isaac scored 24 points and grabbed five rebounds to pace CSJ.  Adley Elican added 20 for the Saints. 

 The Badgers will return to NVU-Lyndon to face Vermont Tech in Friday's 5:30pm match up.
