MBB: Husson Rolls Past Johnson, 101-65

Johnson, VT — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson Men's basketball team was defeated by Husson University by a score of 101-65 in their North Atlantic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. 

The Badgers (0-7, 0-2 NAC) were led by freshman Tyrese Smith (Tamarac, FL) with 13 points. Robert Dubose (Philadelphia, PA) added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Donell Shaw (Washington, DC) tacked on an additional 12 points, six boards, and two assists for Johnson. 

Husson's DJ Bussey led all scorers with 22 points on 6-12 shooting from the three point line. The Eagles also received a career-high 18 points, four assists, and three rebounds from sophomore forward Cole Thomas. 

Husson opened the game with a balanced offensive attack, quickly jumping out to a 15-0 lead off a trio of three-pointers and scoring by all five Eagles' starters. Smith interrupted the  Eagles' offensive barrage with a layup to put the Badgers on the board after three and a half minutes of play. Johnson's offense began to pick up as the Badgers nailed six shots from behind the arc. Husson's offense continued to give Johnson trouble and the Eagles entered the locker room at halftime with a 61-35 lead.

The Badgers picked up their defense in the second half and held Husson to 40 points in the second half. Senior Donell Shaw led Johnson offensively in the second half with nine points. 

The Eagles shot 50.0% from the field and 40.0% from behind the arc while holding the Badgers to 37.5% from the field and 24.3% from three. Husson also out rebounded the Badgers 52-29.

The Badgers will travel to Maine on Friday, December 7th for a conference tilt versus University of Maine-Farmington. The men's game is slated to begin at 5:30pm with the women's matchup following at 7:30pm.
