Archer Commits to Men's Basketball for 2019-2020 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team have earned a commitment from Dashaun Archer for the 2019-2020 season.

Dashaun Archer has signed the necessary paperwork and has committed to Head Coach Miles Smith and the men's basketball program for the 2019-2020 season. Archer plans to pursue a degree in exercise science when arrived at Northern Vermont University-Johnson. "I want to use my degree and become a Physical Therapist", said Archer. Archer comes to NVU-Johnson from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Annville-Cleona High School boys varsity basketball program.

"I chose NVU-Johnson, because of the atmosphere", said Archer. "Everyone is friendly, and the campus is extremely nice. I wanted to go somewhere where nobody from my high school would even think about going. Also, when I came on my visit, the team was amazing and made me feel at home".

Throughout Archer's career he has accumulated multiple athletic honors, being named as a Lancaster-Lebanon League All Star selection. Early in his career he was a Second Team All-League selection and was the recipient of Defensive Player of the Year for Annville-Cleona High School. Archer is excited to transition into the college basketball scene but understands that the transition is going to be something new. "Becoming a Badger, is nerve-wrecking simply, because it is a big step for me. There are a lot of challenges I am ready to face. The Badgers are a family that I want to be part of."

Head Coach Mile Smith believes the commitment of Archer is a great start to the incoming class. "We wanted to focus on bringing in more athletic players. Dashaun fits what we are trying to do. The 6'4 guard can defend multiple positions and his passing and shooting ability for his size at this level is what we need".

Dashaun Archer is the first commitment for the 2019-2020 recruiting class for the NVU-Johnson men's basketball program.
