Men's Basketball Gains Transfer Samuel Stephens for 2019-2020 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team and Head Coach Miles Smith recently received commitment from Samuel Stephens for the 2019-2020 season.

Stephens has signed the necessary paperwork comes to Northern Vermont University-Johnson after spending this past year as a student at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. Orginally, Stephens is from Gaithersburg, Maryland and was a member of the boys' varsity basketball team at Gaithersburg High School. The 5'7 guard will provide a scoring punch for the Badgers this upcoming season.

Stephens plans to continue his degree and study exercise science when he attends Northern Vermont University.  "I chose Northern Vermont University-Johnson to further my education in exercise science while being able to play basketball at the collegiate level", said Stephens. "The University and Head Coach Miles Smith have given me a great opportunity to do both the things I love".

Stephens is excited to be a Badger and looks forward to his growth under Head Coach Miles Smith. "I am very excited to play for Coach Smith. He is an honest coach that looks to get the most potential out of his players on and off the court. He also establishes a relationship with his players that makes it easy for us to talk to him. I am thankful to be part of his program".

Stephens will provide depth in the backcourt for the Badgers and Stephens will provide an edge that will be hard to match. "Stephens is going to play a huge role in our program with his toughness and athletic ability", said Smith. "I strongly believe he is going to bring a sense of urgency and excitement to our program".

The men's basketball program will announce future commitments for the upcoming 2019-2020 season in the near future.
