Second Half Surge Earns Broncos Win Over NVU-Johnson

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team hosted SUNY Delhi in their first game coming off the holiday break. The Broncos earned the win by a score of 85-61.

Ayodeji Shokeye led the way for the Badgers with 21 points three steals and a block off the bench. Robert Dubose added ten points and five assists, while Floyd Davis and Jaymes Savage each recorded seven boards. Davis finished with nine points on 4-8 shooting and Savage finished with seven points.

It was a back and forth battle in the first half of action but a strong late run by the Broncos earned them the 37-33 lead headed into the break. Coming out of the break the Broncos capitalized on a 10-4 run that pushed the lead to double digits and eventually the Broncos earned the win by a score of 85-61.

The Broncos forced NVU-Johnson into 19 turnovers while the Badgers won the turnover battle forcing 20 Bronco turnovers. The Broncos were successful in the paint scoring 64 of their 85 points in the interior. SUNY Delhi finished 3-of-11 from long range and 2-of-7 from the free throw line, while the Badgers finished 5-of-14 and 14-of-25.

With the loss the Badgers fall to 3-9 and will host Thomas College on Friday, January 10 for a NAC contest.
