WATERBURY, Vt.- The opening round of the 2018 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Golf Championship was held on Saturday under chilly conditions at the Country Club of Vermont in Waterbury,Vt. Only nine of the eleven schools finished in the first round of the Championship due to daylight. Thomas College and SUNY Canton are scheduled to finish their first round on Sunday morning before round two of the championship gets underway.

 With current scores, Husson University sits atop the leaderboard with a cumulative score of 307. The Eagles hold a four stroke lead over current second place Salem State (311), while SUNY Delhi sits in third with a score of 318. Castleton University posted a score of 332 while NVU-Johnson is right behind them with a score of 340. University of Maine Farmington (342), Maine Maritime Academy (356), MCLA (390) and University of Maine Presque Isle (423) round out the leaderboard for round one. 

 Husson's Gavin Dugas led all scorers meeting par with a 72. He had two birdies throughout the round. Teammate Taylor Morang and Salem's Eric Powers and Justin Serowik were Dugas's closest competitors posting scores of 74. Delhi's Daniel Christy posted a score of 75 and Salem's Christian Mckenna posted a score of 76.

 The NVU-Johnson Badgers struggled throughout round one. David Albright (Grantham, N.H.) posted a team best 80. Austin Walters (Grantham, N.H.) was second for the Badgers recording a score of 83. Nick Audet (Morrisville, Vt.) finished round one with a score of 88.

 The second and final round of the NAC Golf Championship will get underway on Sunday at 9:30am. Both Thomas College and SUNY Canton will tee off from their respective holes at 10:00am.
