Husson Defeats Johnson 21-7

BANGOR, Maine - Johnson State College men's lacrosse ended up on the bad side of a 21-7 men's lacrosse decision on Saturday at Husson University to slide to 1-6 overall, 0-4 North Atlantic Conference (NAC).  The Eagles improve to 7-5 overall, 3-0 in the NAC.

Senior Alex Petti (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) once again led the JSC offensive attack with three goals and an assist while senior Justin Nelson (Lakeville, Mass./Bishop Connolly) and freshman Nash Garceau (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) each recorded a goal and two assists.  Junior Chandler Halbur (Wilmington, Vt./Twin Valley) and sophomore Matt Dekens (Johnson, Vt./Lamoille) each had a single goal for Johnson as well.

Goalkeeper Zach Jerome (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) made 15 saves for Johnson while Husson goalie Eric Lund made 13 stops.

Husson saw Mitch Heaps score six goals and Ben Landry tally five in the win.  Wayne Stubbs scored three goals and Dustin Brett had two goals to help pace the Eagles.

Nelson's score with 5:52 remaining in the first period tied the match a 3-3 as the game was competitive early.  The Eagles would connect on the game's next four goals and then outscore JSC 8-1 in the second period to take a commanding 15-4 into halftime and cruise to the win.

Johnson will travel to Lyndon State College on Tuesday in their next contest while Husson moves on to play at Castleton on Saturday.
