NEC Men’s Lacrosse Cruises Past Visiting Johnson State College

HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College men's lacrosse proved to be too much for Johnson topping the Badgers 20-2 Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Johnson to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while the Pilgrims even their overall record at 4-4 and remain undefeated in NAC improving to 2-0. 

Johnson's Matt Dekens (Johnson, Vt./Lamoille) and Taner Cross (East Montpelier, Vt./ U32) each scored a goal and tallied two shots for the Badgers.
Brian Gillis finished the game with seven goals and one assist, while Tim Reilly (Hanover, Mass.) netted the three first half goals and dished out two assists.  NEC's Pat Miles (Bampton, Ontario) scored a goal and had four assists, while Adam Shute (Calgary, Alberta) assisted three goals on the afternoon.

New England College would explode with five goals in the opening five minutes of play out scoring Johnson 13-1 in the opening half. 

The Pilgrims would continue their offensive dominance in the second half of play as Johnson's Matt Dekens would score in the opening minute but NEC would respond with seven unanswered goals en route to the 20-2 victory.

Several goalies saw time in net for the Pilgrims including Cody Kitson (Shelton, Conn.), Chris Galluzzo (New London, N.H.) and Keith Young (Hyde Park, Mass.).  In net for Johnson was Zach Jerome (Waterford, Conn.) who finished with 13 saves. 

Johnson will battle in-state NAC foe Lyndon State on Thursday, April 4 while NEC returns to action on Tuesday, April 2 when they travel to take on non-conference opponent Middlebury College.
