Balanced Attack Leads Mariners Past Badgers

Brady Harrison and Nicholas Betti each netted four shots to lift Maine Maritime to a 22-2 win over Johnson State in a North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse game Saturday. The Mariners improved to 1-3, 1-0 NAC, while the Badgers dropped to 0-3, 0-1.

Betti became the eighth player in program history to reach 100 career points. The junior now sits with 102 points and is 12 points shy of tying Tom Zysk '01 for seventh on the all-time scoring list.

 

Harrison and Peter Moore both recorded eight points for Maine Maritime. Harrison added four assists to his goal total and Moore recorded a game-high six assists and found the back of the net twice. Cameron Wyman scored three times for Mariners, Bronson Guimond, Justin Lovely and A.J. Larrabee netted two shots and Nick Snelling, Tim Grant and Nathan McLellan found the back of the net once.

 

Alan Bickings and Andrew Neddo each scored once for Johnson State.

 

Gavin Cote picked up  the win for Maine Maritime with five saves and James Wilgus stopped three shots in the second half for the Mariners. Jay Palmisano stopped 18 shots for JSC.

 

Maine Maritime opened the game with 3-0 lead before Ryan Belen found Bickings late in the first quarter. The Mariners scored the next 13 goals through the third quarter and capped the game with six unanswered in the fourth.

 

Maine Maritime won 22 of 28 face-offs, with Jack Tragert going 17 of 19, Tim Grant 3 of 3 and Clayton Morrison 2 of 6. Ryan McLellan and Alex Grant both caused six turnovers to anchor the defense.
