The Johnson State men's lacrosse team fell to visiting Lyndon State 10-6 on Friday afternoon on the campus of Johnson State College. With the win, Lyndon advances to 2-12 on the year and 2-5 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The Badgers slide to 0-8 on the year and 0-5 in the NAC.
Lyndon State jumped out to an early lead when Justin Mosher found the back of the net off of a Billy Bazyk feed just six minutes into play. Johnson equalized things shortly after the Hornets' goal seeing Matthew Malek score off a Ryan Belen assist. Robert Crupi of Lyndon put the Hornets ahead 2-1 which was followed closely by a goal by Alan Bickings to tie things up before the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Hornets netted the only goal in the quarter. Crupi ripped a shot past the keeper off of a pass from David Hodge to make the score 3-2.
Johnson came back from the break strong notching two goals right away from Jefferson Lawler to put the Badgers ahead 4-3. Lyndon scored twice more before Malek ended the quarter with a goal for Johnson tying things up 5-5 to end the period.
Lyndon sealed the deal in the fourth out scoring Johnson 5-1 off of goals from Crupi, who scored twice, Bazyk, Richard Aberle Jr and Dominic DiTommaso. Johnson's Matt Dekens tallied one goal for the Badgers, but it wasn't enough. Lyndon ended the game ontop with a 10-6 decision in it's favor.
Marcus Bessette picked up the win for the Hornets stopping 15 of 21 shots, while his counterpart, Jay Palmisano, stopped 18 of 28 shots faced in the losing effort.
Johnson will head to Castleton on Tuesday for more NAC action on Tuesday April 22nd at 7:00p.
