Neddo Leads Badgers to First NAC Victory of the Season

Johnson State College grabbed its first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory of the season on Tuesday with a tightly contested 5-3 win over the Thomas College Terriers at Sabine Field on the campus of Norwich University.

Johnson (2-4, 1-2 NAC) was led by Andrew Neddo's two goal, one assist effort while Thomas (0-7, 0-3 NAC) saw one goal a piece from Kade Strout, Bryan Ferris and Parker Chute.

Thomas came out strong in the first quarter, putting up its first goal two minutes into play. Both teams locked each other out for 12 minutes until Johnson's Jefferson Lawler found the back of the net off of a Neddo feed. Only five seconds later, Thomas converted a faceoff win to answer back with a quick pass from Colby Blondin to Parker Chute to give the Terriers the lead 2-1 as the teams head into the second quarter.

The second  and third quarters were Johnson's as the Badgers netted four total goals, and were able to silence the Terriers.

Thomas scored one more to close out the fourth quarter, but the effort would not be enough to seal the deal for the Terriers. Johnson walked off the field with a 5-3 win.

The fourth quarter witnessed the most scoring as Johnson began to press looking to even up the score, while Green Mountain selectively utilized a counter attack. Neddo narrowed the score to 4-3 with his second of the game just over a minute into the fourth quarter.

Johnson earned a large advantage in shots with a 43-13 edge while Johnson also held a distinct advantage on the ground with 51 groundballs to 30 for the Terriers.

Johnson will travel to New England College on Tuesday, April 7th for another NAC tilt, while Thomas will host Lyndon State on April 4th.
