Badgers Earn Conference Victory Over Beavers

Junior Cameron McAllister notched three goals and a pair of assists as the University of Maine at Farmington men's lacrosse team (0-11, 0-6) could not hold cap of a first half comeback in Saturday's, 11-6, loss tot Johnson State at Smith Field.

Trailing 4-0 in the second quarter, McAllister scored back-to-back goals for the Beavers to cut Johnson's lead in half.

McAllister assisted UMF's next goal as David Walter Grainger III scored Farmington's third goal of the quarter with a one-man advantage.

The junior beat the clock in the final seconds of the first half for the equalizer. McAllister ran to his right, fired a low line drive, and beat Johnson keeper Jay Palmisano to tie the game, 4-4.

Chase Rerrick gave the Beavers their first lead of the game a minute into the third quarter, with the assist coming from McAllister.

Johnson reeled off three goals in the third quarter and one more in the fourth quarter before UMF could recover. Tom McGowan brought UMF within, 8-6, with 9:41 left in the game, but Johnson answered with three more goals to close out the game.

Connor Joy  was tenacious on the defensive end with seven ground balls. Zack Rowland  added six ground balls to his season total and broke the single-season record for face off wins tonight. The senior also became the first player in program history to crack the century mark in face off wins.

Joseph Maldano saved 11 shots on the afternoon and picked up four ground balls.

Johnson will face Maine Maritime tomorrow in Castine while UMaine-Farmington will look to rebound on Tuesday with a meeting at Maine Maritime Academy.
