Mariners Sink Badgers 17-2

Bronson Guimond  scored five goals, tying his career high, and tallied an assist to lead Maine Maritime Academy men's lacrosse to a commanding 17-2 North Atlantic Conference victory over Johnson State on Sunday afternoon at Ritchie Field. 

Nicholas Betti recorded a six-point performance of his own with four goals and a two assists, surpassing the 150-goal mark in his career, to help lead the attack for the Mariners who improve to 5-6 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Dean Samuelson added four goals and a game-high 13 ground balls, Tim Grant  contributed a goal and two assists while scooping up nine ground balls and causing two turnovers.

Alex Grant-Roy, Kyle Thomas and Peter Moore each had a goal and an assist, while A.J. Larrabee recorded a game-high three assists. Jack Tragert went 13-of-15 on the face-off and scooped up 11 ground balls, Grant went a perfect 5-of-5 from the face-off. 

Defensively Michael Dedian led the Mariners with seven caused turnovers and nine ground balls, Sam Bessey  added five caused turnovers and sixw ground balls. 

James Wilgus stopped five shots in net for the Mariners to pick up the victory, Jacob Rondeau added a save in nearly 16 minutes of play in goal. 

Alan Bickings and Nate Plocharczyk grabbed goals to the lead the Badgers offensively, Zach Shuttle recorded an assist.

Ryan Beaudry and Alex Hoen led the Badger defense with three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls each, while Jay Palmisano recorded an impressive 29 saves in net for Johnson State who falls to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the conference. 

The Mariners return to action this Tuesday, April 14 when they host Maine-Farmington at 7:00 p.m. The North Atlantic Conference matchup was originally scheduled to be played at Farmington but has been moved to Ritchie Field.  Johnson will host Castleton on Saturday, April 18th for a 3:30p tilt.
