Eagles Outlast Badgers 8-4

The Husson University men's lacrosse team downed the Johnson State men's lacrosse team 8-4 at Minaert Field on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Badgers drop to 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while the win sees the Eagles advance to 2-5 overall and 2-0 in the NAC.

Brandon Corbo tallied three goals in the Eagles win while Jefferson Lawler, Mason Phillips, Andrew Neddo and Rhys Keenhold each recorded a goal for the Badgers.

Johnson State jumped out to an early lead in the game, netting its first two goals in at the 13:39 mark off when Matt Ball gave Keenhold a pass into the critical scoring zone. Mason Phillips netted another goal for the Badgers just minutes later, giving Johnson the 2-0 advantage. Husson's slower pace quickly changed after a Brandon Bosse goal for the Eagles.

While the Badgers kept it close, the Eagles pulled away enough to keep the hosts at bay. Johnson's offense picked up the pace in the last five minutes of the forth quarter, netting its last two goals to close the deficit to four. Johnson held their opponents to just two goals in the second half of the game.

The Eagles outshot the Badgers, 47-20 and won the groundball battle 19-12 while winning 10-of-14 face-offs.

The Eagles return to action next Saturday, April 9th when they travel to Castleton while Johnson State will travel to Thomas College on Tuesday for a 4:00pm game.
