Thomas College sophomore Colby Blondin and senior Parker Chute scored three goals and one assist each as the Thomas College men's lacrosse topped Johnson State College, 8-5, for its first win of the season.

Blondin, who won nine of 15 face-offs and racked up 12 ground balls, opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at the 5:23 mark of the first quarter. He also assisted on Chute's goal with 19 seconds to play in the quarter as the Terriers took a 2-0 lead into the quarter break.

Senior Bryan Ferris extended the lead to 3-0 with a goal at the 11:37 mark of the second quarter off an assist from Chute. Chute tallied his second goal just 40 seconds later to give the Terriers a four-goal advantage.

Johnson State (0-5, 0-2 NAC) cut the lead in half as Jefferson Lawler tallied a power-play goal with 9:52 left in the quarter and an even-strength goal from Andrew Neddo with 3:59 left.

Leading 4-2 at halftime, the Terriers (1-5, 1-3 NAC) struck first in the third quarter as senior Zac Crimmin found the back of the net off an assist from Ferris.

The Badgers scored back-to-back tallies to draw within one goal at 5-4. Isaiah Leraeu registered an unassisted goal with 7:53 left in the third and Mason Phillips scored off a Rhys Keenhold assist with 1:41 to play.

Chute gave the Terriers a bit of a cushion less than a minute later, scoring with a two-man advantage off an assist from Crimmin.

Blondin won the ensuing faceoff, weaved through the Badger defense and fired a shot past Jay Palmisano to put Thomas up 7-4 with just 29 seconds to play in the quarter.

After the teams switched ends following the quarter break, Blondin opened the final quarter with a goal just 30 seconds in.

Johnson State capped the scoring with 6:21 to play in the game as Phillps tallied an even-strength goal off an assist from Lawler.

The Terriers held a 46-32 advantage in shots and won 10 of 16 faceoffs. Thomas also held a 44-38 edge in ground balls and was successful on 22 of 41 clear attempts. Johnson State made good on 28 of 38 clear attempts.

Chute finished with four points and one ground ball, while Ferris grabbed two points and three ground balls.

Seniors Sheldon Jones and Gershom Renee  were active on defensively with Jones picking up nine ground balls and causing six turnovers and Renee grabbing two ground balls and causing five turnovers. Sophomore Connor Blair  had four ground balls and four forced turnovers.

Sophomore Connor Lamberton  grabbed the win on goal for Thomas, making 15 saves and picking up eight ground balls.

In addition to a goal and an assist, Lawler finished with four ground balls, two caused turnovers and went 4-for-12 in the face-off circle.

Phillip Perkins led the Badgers with 11 ground balls and four caused turnovers, while Dominic Caforia added five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Zach Shuttle caused a team-high five turnovers.

The Terriers venture to Lyndon State on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. North Atlantic Conference contest. The Badgers travel to Maine Maritime the same afternoon for another NAC contest.
