Badgers Fall to Hornets 14-4

Johnson State College men's lacrosse were unable to continue momentum from their weekend win, as they fell 14-4 to the Lyndon State College men's lacrosse team in North Atlantic Conference action on Monday night. 

The Hornets outshot the Badgers 64 to 28 and collected 57 groundballs to Johnson's 35. Shane Morin (4-6) gained the win for the Hornets with six saves. The Badgers' Jay Palmisano (1-6) made sixteen saves taking the loss.

Justin Mosher was the leading scorer for the Hornets collecting eight points with four goals and four assists. Ian Pelkey, Zachary Carey, Kevin McCarthy, Shea Jones, and Spencer Aubin collected two goals apiece.

The Badgers got two goals from Andrew Neddo, and one each from Isaiah Leraeu, and Mason Phillips.

The Hornets came out hot netting two within the first thirty seconds of the game on an unassisted goal from Jones and a goal from Aubin after an assist from Mosher.  At the 5:40 mark, the Badgers' Neddo was able to get one past Morin, to cut the lead to 2-1.  Two minutes later, on a man-up opportunity, Mosher would deposit his first goal of the game with an assist from Carey.

Throughout the second period the Badgers were held scoreless as the Hornets drained four goals.  Mosher drilled the first two goals with McCarthy and Carey adding in a single of their own. 

At the start of the third period, the Hornets found themselves with a 7-1 advantage.  After an assist from Mosher, McCarthy netted his second goal two minutes into play.  With a man-up opportunity, the Badgers' were able to capitalize as Leraeu gained them their second goal of the afternoon with 5:52 remaining.  On two man-up opportunities, Jones and Mosher added to the board for the Hornets making it 10-2.

Pelkey would get the first two goals of the last stanza for the Hornets with Neddo gaining his second goal for the Badgers soon after.  With two more man-up opportunities, Aubin and Carey finished the scoring for the Hornets.  The Badgers' Phillips netted the final goal of the contest with 3:49 left of play.  The Hornets would gain the 14-4 victory, obtaining their fourth win of the season.

Lyndon (4-7, 4-3 NAC) will be traveling to University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday, April 23rd for a 3:30 p.m. start. Johnson (1-8, 1-5 NAC) hosts Green Mountain College on Wednesday.
