Balanced Attack Leads to Badger Victory

Johnson State used a crucial second quarter to complete a 12-9, come-from-behind win over Green Mountain on Wednesday afternoon at Minaert Field. With the loss, Green Mountain slides to 2-9 overall and 2-4 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while Johnson State advances to 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the NAC. 

Johnson State leveraged a balanced attack in the win, using three goals from Mason Phillips and Isaiah Leraeu, two goals from Andrew Neddo and Rhys Keenhold and one goal a piece from Jefferson Lawler and Dominic Caforia

Green Mountain was led by Brendan McKenna's five goal performance and two goals from Nick Parsons.

Green Mountain posted the first goal of the game just two minutes in, but were quickly greeted by a goal from Johnson to tie things 1-1.  Green Mountain used a three goal run to close out the first quarter ahead 4-1. Johnson stunned the visitors in the second quarter scoring four unanswered goals to take a 6-4 lead as the teams headed into the break.  

Johnson used period three to go up by as many as four goals, leading the Eagles 10-4 with just fifteen minutes left in regulation. Green Mountain rallied to cut the lead to 11-9, but Johnson would seal the deal with one more goal with seconds to go, to take the win 12-9. 

The Eagles' Arun Falk stopped twelve shots on goal, while Jay Palmisano picked up the win with 13 saves. 

GMC will host Husson on Saturday at 3:30 p.m in its next game, while Johnson will travel to Castleton to play the Spartans on Saturday at 7 p.m.
