Pilgrims Take Down Badgers in Season Opener

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Johnson State College men's lacrosse team opened their season with a 27-0 loss to New England College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Wednesday afternoon.

The Badgers go to 0-1 (0-1 NAC) on the season while the Pilgrims move to 4-4 (1-0 NAC)

1st Quarter

NEC picked up 11 unanswered goals in the first, including five from Matt Richard.

2nd Quarter

The Pilgrims picked up eight more in the second, bringing the score to 19-0 at the break.

3rd Quarter

New England College added seven goals in the third quarter to bring the tally up to 26-0.

4th Quarter

Johnson State held the Pilgrims to just one goal in the fourth to bring the final score to 27-0.

Goalkeepers

William Platt played the first 15 minutes and did not record a save. William Aufranc played the next 30 minutes and stopped two shots, before giving way to Daniel Tibbrine for the final 15 minutes and a save. Johnson's Jay Palmisano (Barre, Vt.) tallied 14 saves in defeat.

The Pilgrims held a 57-7 advantage in shots and a 41-3 advantage in shots-on-goal. NEC also held the advantage in ground balls (40-15) and committed nine turnovers to Johnson's 22.

Johnson will travel to Wheelock on Saturday, March 25th for a non-conference game.
