LEICESTER, MASS.– The Johnson State College men's lacrosse team fell to Wheelock College 20-3 in a non-conference game on Saturday night.
The Badgers go to 0-2 on the season while the Wildcats move to 1-4.
1st Quarter
Wheelock picked up six unanswered goals in the first, including two from Eddie Romero.
2nd Quarter
The Wildcats picked up five more unanswered to start the second, before Mason Phillips (Sackets Harbor, N.Y.) notched his first of the season, assisted by Isaiah LeReau (Danbury, Conn.), on the man advantage with 3:11 left in the quarter to bring the score to 11-1 at the half.
3rd Quarter
Wheelock added four in the third, with Johnson tacking on a goal by Jayden Vargas (Jobstown, N.J.) to make the score 15-2 going into the fourth.
4th Quarter
LeReau put Johnson's third goal on the board with 11 seconds left in the game, following five goals by Wheelock, to bring the final score to 20-3.
Goalkeepers
Josh DiMassa earned the win for Wheelock, stopping nine of 12 shots. Jay Palmisano (Barre, Vt.) tallied 13 saves in defeat.
Stats Breakdown
The Wildcats held a 49-27 advantage in shots and a 33-12 advantage in shots-on-goal. Wheelock also held the advantage in ground balls (40-35) and committed 16 turnovers to Johnson's 37.
