Badgers Dropped by Mariners

BURLINGTON, VT. – The Johnson State College men's lacrosse team fell to Maine Maritime Academy 13-2 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game at the University of Vermont on Sunday afternoon.

The Badgers go to 0-6 (0-3 NAC) on the season while the Mariners move to 2-7 (2-2 NAC).

1st Quarter

MMA picked up three unanswered goals in the first four minutes to take a 3-0 lead after one.

2nd Quarter

The Mariners added three more in the second, including two from Dean Samuelson, to bring the score to 6-0 at the half.

3rd Quarter

Maine Maritime scored their seventh goal 1:40 into the third. Johnson put their first on the board with 2:35 left in the period when Ethan Wehse (Stowe, Vt.) scored a goal assisted by Hayden Tomlinson (Bradford, Vt.).

4th Quarter

The Mariners notched six more in the fourth, while Rhys Keenhold (Braintree, Vt.) added one for Johnson to bring the final score to 13-2.

Goalkeepers

Daniel Lee earned the victory in goal for MMA, stopping three of five shots while Jay Palmisano (Barre, Vt.) turned aside 21 shots for Johnson.

Stats Breakdown

The Mariners outshot the Badgers 62-13 overall and earned a 49-20 edge in groundballs. The Badgers went 0-4 on the man advantage while the Mariners were 2-4.
