POULTNEY, VT. – The Johnson State College men's lacrosse team fell to Green Mountain College 13-3 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Wednesday afternoon.
The Badgers go to 0-7 (0-4 NAC) on the season while the Eagles move to 1-6 (1-2 NAC).
1st Quarter
The Badgers got on the board first with a goal by Rhys Keenhold (Braintree, Vt.), assisted by Jayden Vargas (Jobstown, N.J.), with 1:10 left in the quarter. Green Mountain tied things up with four seconds left to bring the score to 1-1 after one.
2nd Quarter
The Eagles put up six unanswered goals in the second to take a 7-1 lead into the break.
3rd Quarter
Green Mountain continued their scoring streak in the third, putting up three more to bring the score to 10-1 heading into the fourth.
4th Quarter
The Eagles added two more to start the fourth before Johnson answered back with goals by Keenhold and Andrew Baker (Carthage, N.Y.). Green Mountain added one more to bring the final score to 13-3.
Goalkeepers
Carl Diethelm stopped eight of nine shots faced to earn the win. Travis Brown (Culpeper, Va.) saw his first action in net of the season, stopping 14 shots.
Stats Breakdown
The Eagles outshot the Badgers 56-25 overall and earned a 51-29 edge in groundballs. The Badgers went 1-8 on the man advantage while the Eagles were 6-9.
