Hornets Best Johnson on Senior Day

JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College men's lacrosse team fell to Lyndon State College 14-2 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Monday afternoon.

The Badgers go to 0-10 (0-7 NAC) on the season while the Hornets move to 9-5 (5-1 NAC).

1st Quarter

Lyndon picked up two in the first with goals by Spencer Aubin and Anthony Altermatt.

2nd Quarter

Ian Pelkey scored a goal two minutes into the second to push the Lyndon lead to 3-0. Isaiah LeReau (Danbury, Conn.) answered back a minute and a half later to cut the lead back down to two. Lyndon scored four more unanswered to close out the half with a 7-1 lead.

3rd Quarter

Rhys Keenhold (Braintree, Vt.) picked up and unassisted goal in the third, but Lyndon tacked on four of their own to take a 11-2 advantage.

4th Quarter

Lyndon notched three goals in the fourth to take the 14-2 victory.

Goalkeepers

Marcus Bessette earned the win for Lyndon, making one save on two shots in 30 minutes of work. Jay Palmisano made 18 saves in the loss.

Stats Breakdown

The Hornets recorded 32 shots on goal to Johnson's six and while Johnson earned a 12-6 edge in face offs. The Hornets went 1-14 on the man advantage while the Badgers were 0-8.

Senior Celebration

Prior to the game, Palmisano, Frank Spiese (Craftsbury, Vt.), Phillip Perkins (Brattleboro, Vt.) and Colin Dalmata (Johnstown, N.Y.) were recognized for playing in their final collegiate game.
