Bulldogs Beat Badgers in Non-Conference Game

Franklin, MA- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's lacrosse team opened up the 2019 season against Dean College Friday afternoon. The Badgers fell to the Bulldogs by a score of 19-5.

The Badgers had four different players score in the contest on Friday afternoon. Travis Benson (Underhill, Vt.) led the Badgers with two goals. In the first quarter of action the Badgers jumped out to a hot start taking a quick 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Noah Holmes (Waldorf, MD) opened the scoring up at the 13:30 minute mark off an assist from midfield freshman Ryan Palmisano (Barre, Vt.). Palmisano quickly scored the next goal for the Badgers off a Benson assist.

With just 10:25 left to play in the first a Badger clear attempt led to a shot attempt on goal which resulted in a goal for Josh Benak (Bethlehem, PA). The Bulldogs scored their first goal of the contest at the 10:06 mark and quickly started to build confidence on the offensive end. After both teams traded possession off of turnovers the Bulldogs were in scoring distance and connected on a shot from Nate Burcroff to cut the lead to one goal after the first quarter.

In the second and third quarter the Bulldogs controlled both ends as their defensive pressure held the Badgers scoreless and offensively the Bulldogs poured in eight goals in the second quarter and nine goals in the third quarter. 

Goalkeeper Patrick Bell (Charlestown, R.I.) recorded 16 saves on the afternoon.

In the last stint of action Benson recorded two goals for the Badgers but it wasn't enough as the Badgers fell in regulation 19-5 to the Bulldogs. 

With the loss the Badgers fall to 0-1 on the year.
