NVU-Johnson Edged in NAC Contest

NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's lacrosse team faced off against Maine Maritime Academy in a North Atlantic Conference matchup on Saturday morning. The Badgers dropped the game by a score of 24-6.

The Badgers gave up 10 first quarter goals to the Mariners and struggled to find the rhythm offensively throughout most of the contest. With the Mariners leading 2-0 early the Badgers capitalized and found the back of the net off a goal by Dave Legris. The Badgers recorded their second goal of the contest as Noah Holmes attacked from midfield and scored through two defenders. The Mariners concluded the first quarter with a strong 10-2 lead. 

The Mariners opened up the second quarter strong as Jayden Wilson recorded his third goal of the contest. After a 3-0 run by the Mariners, Cesar Ortiz scored on a goal after a Maine Maritime penalty. Ryan Palmisano connected again for the Badgers off an assist by Dylan Griffin. The Badgers continued to execute on the offensive end as Josh Benak scored on a man up opportunity receiving an assist by teammate Kyle Picard. The Mariners remained composed as they closed out the quarter leading 18-6.

Maine Maritime Academy scored six goals in the final stint of action to take the game by a final of 24-6. The Mariners were led by Wilson who had a game seven goals, teammate Zeke Tocci recorded six goals and six assists and Sawyer Watson scored four goals.

With the loss the Badgers fall to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the North Atlantic Conference. The Mariners improve to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
