Canton Slips Past Johnson 2-0

CANTON, N.Y. - Johnson State saw host SUNY-Canton control action most of the day on their way to a 2-0 non-conference men's soccer win on Sunday.  The Badgers dip to 3-4-1 overall, 1-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC).  Canton improves to 5-5-1 overall.

Canton received a goal from Shane Powell 7:29 into the contest with the assist going to Keelon Joseph giving the Kangaroos the 1-0 lead.  An unassisted goal from Eric Lopez in the 62nd minute gave Canton a comfortable 2-0 margin in a match in which they surrendered one shot attempt to Johnson.

Ryan Belen (Northvale, N.J./Northern Valley) made the start for Johnson making two saves and allowing one goal.  Belen was relieved by Sam Martin (Essex, Vt./Essex) in the second half as Martin recorded two saves a goal against as well.

Roos keeper Homero Flores picked up the win for Canton making the one save.

Johnson will move on to host the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) in another non-conference tilt on Tuesday at 4:00 pm while Canton will play Paul Smith's College on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
