Canton Shuts Out Johnson 2-0

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College men's soccer dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to visiting SUNY Canton on Sunday as the Badgers dip to 0-7, 0-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC).  The Kangaroos improve to 2-3 overall.

Canton scored both of their goals in the first half with Marvin Palmer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) taking an Austin Johnson (Auburn, N.Y.) feed at the top of the penalty box and depositing the shot past a diving Sam Martin (Essex, Vt./Essex) to take the 1-0 lead 11:15 into the game.  Keelon Joseph (Arima, Trinidad and Tobago) drilled the second score of the game from the deep right side of the field, outside of the penalty box, for the second and final score of the game at 24:57.

William Banahene (Rochester, N.Y.) and Antonio James (Black River, St. Elizabeth) each played a half and both recorded two saves with Banahene picking up the victory.  Martin made four stops for Johnson in the loss.

Johnson will step back into conference action on Friday for a 3:00 pm match at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine in their next outing while Canton will host the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
