Eagles Narrowly Defeat Badgers 3-2

Johnson State College men's soccer fell 3-2 to visiting Husson University, Sunday afternoon. The Badgers slide to 2-6-1 on the season and 0-3 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play while the Eagles advance to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the NAC. 

Phil Frost contributed a brace in the winning effort with help from a single goal from Josh Bellomoto give Eagles their third straight conference victory on the year. Johnson State saw goals from Josh King and Dominic Caforia

Johnson's King netted the first goal of the match just nine minutes into the game to give the Badgers the 1-0 advantage. Just seven minutes later the Eagles answered with an unassisted goal from Josh Bellamo followed by another quick goal from Phil Frost. Frost was able to take down a high cross from Stephen Berenyi to go ahead 2-1. After 13 scoreless minutes, Caforia tallied his 6th goal on the season to equalize the score, 2-2 which is how they headed into the half.

Frost notched his second goal of the game just under two minutes into the new half. The Badgers rallied and had several great attempts over the next 43 minutes but were not able to finish giving the Eagles a slim 3-2 win.

In goal for Husson, Brian Potter turned away one shot for the Eagles and was credited with the win. Pakatar finished with 12 saves on the day giving him a total of 25 on the weekend.
 
The Badgers are back in action next weekend with another set of home matches starting on Saturday with Castleton at 1:00pm. The Eagles return to action when they face Bowdoin for a 3:30p game.
