Badgers Blanked by Pilgrims

New England College men's soccer defeated the visiting Johnson State College Badgers 3-0 Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 8-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.  The loss drops the Badgers to 4-9-1 on the season and 2-5-0 in the NAC.

NEC would notch the lone goal of the opening half in the 23rd minute as sophomore Rizy Misiri would dribble around a Badger defender and fire in his third goal of the season unassisted.

The Pilgrims would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute as Julian Yourawski would head in a free kick off the foot of teammate Brandon Currier. NEC would tack on another score just three minutes later as Michael Skarbelis would score on a one-on-one with Badger keeper Alex Pakatar.

NEC finished the game out shooting Johnson 23-3 and held the 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Picking up the win in net for NEC was Mark Nowak who finished with two saves.  Johnson's Pakatar notched 11 saves in net for the Badgers.

NEC returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 19 when they celebrate senior day hosting conference opponent Lyndon State College.  Johnson returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 19 as well as they travel to take on conference foe Colby-Sawyer College.
