Badgers Walk Off With 9-0 Win Over Green Mountain

The Johnson State  (2-4,1-1 NAC) men's soccer team scored nine goals in a North Atlantic Conference  win over Green Mountain College (0-6, 0-1 NAC).

Junior Dominic Caforia recorded a hat trick for the Badgers while rookie striker Corey Nystrom notched two goals and dished out three assists in the win.

Seniors Josh King and Richie Perez, sophomore Ethan Hutchinson and freshman William McCarthy each scored a goal apiece for the Badgers.

Nystrom opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a low shot that beat Green Mountain goalie Victor Gollub off a cross from the right from Rob Wetmore.

The second Johnson goal was nearly a carbon copy of the first goal with Nystrom burying a shot into the bottom of the net unassisted for his second goal of the game.

Johnson remained consistent through the rest of the half posting two quick goals from King and Caforia at 42:00 and 44:00 minute marks.

Hutchinson started the scoring early in the second half after collecting a loose ball at the 20 yard mark taking two dribbles and passing Gollub.

Caforia scored his third goal right after stepping onto the pitch, taking a long shot from the right corner, finding the back of the net off of a Nystrom feed.

Perez and McCarthy put got on the board seven minutes between each other to seal the 9-0 win. Johnson outshot Green Mountain 28-15.

Johnson returns to action on Saturday for a 4:30 game at Castleton University while Green Mountain travels to Keene State for a 6:00pm non-conference match.
