Mariners Blank Badgers

Maine Maritime men's soccer defeated Johnson State 11-0 on Sunday afternoon, in North Atlantic Conference play at Ritchie Field. Maine Maritime improves to 3-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the NAC, while Johnson drops to 2-8 on the year and 1-4 in the confernce.

Bryan Soucy opened up the scoring for the Mariners in the 4th minute, and then dished out an assist to Kyle Haslam in the 13th minute to put the Mariners up 2-0.

Jonathan Reeks set Haslam up in the 22nd minute to make it 3-0. Matt Leblanc headed in a corner kick from Soucy in the 33rd minute to extend the Mariner lead to 4-0. Tom Samson'sshot rebounded off the hands of Badger keeper Sean Springer, and Jack Weeks chipped the ball in the net to make it 5-0, heading into the half.

In the second half, Christopher Gilman  and Alex Blackwell each added a pair of goals, and Samson scored a goal to lead the Mariners to an 11-0 win.

Joshua Reeks grabbed the win in net for the Mariners, stopping all two shots he faced, while Sean Springer stopped 11 shots in net for the Badgers.

The Badgers will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to play non-conference opponent Mitchell College for a 3:00pm contest.
