The Mitchell College men's soccer team came away with a 5-1 victory over Johnson State (2-9, 1-4 NAC) College in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Junior Andrew Nigro recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Mitchell offense. Romer Ochoa  made six stops in goal to pick up his first career victory as the Mariners evened their record at 5-5-1 on the season.

Mitchell scored three times in the final 20 minutes of the first half to take a 3-0 lead into the break. Sophomore Robert Pullan put the Mariners on the board in the 26th minute on a cross from Nigro that he finished inside the far post. Freshman Andrew Storton converted a penalty kick in the 40th minute to make it 2-0, and classmate Andris Vital added the final goal of the half on an unassisted effort in the 44th minute.

The Mariners extended the lead to 4-0 in the final 10 minutes of the contest. Freshman TJ Condon  played a long ball down the right sideline to Nigro, who cut back in toward the goal before finishing to the near post. The duo hooked up again in the closing seconds for the game's final tally, running Nigro's season goal total to six.

Johnson State's goal also came inside the final minute as Sean Springer connected on an attempt from 15 yards out. The goal was his second of the season.
