Badgers Overpower Hornets to 4-1 Victory

The hosting Badgers used a balanced attack to top the Hornets 4-1 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory on Wednesday afternoon in Johnson, Vt. With the win, the Badgers improve to 3-11 overall and 2-6 in NAC play. The loss drops the Hornets overall 1-11 and to a 1-7 mark in conference action.

Johnson opened up the scoring in the contest with penalty kick from Josh King just 6:33 into play. With the momentum created from that goal, the Badgers kept the pressure high. Corey Nystrom threaded a beautiful low cross to Sean Springer for the Badgers second goal of the day. Before the close of the half, Lyndon St. got a gift scoring off of a penalty kick in the 42:00 minute, closing the half 2-1, Johnson's advantage.

Johnson struck again in the 63rd minute off of another Springer goal, this time assisted by Josh King. The Badgers didn't look back, netting one final goal for insurance from Pedro Perez to take the game 4-1.

Johnson outshot Lyndon 24-17 while Lyndon barely held the edge in corner kicks with a 12-11 margin.

Alex Pakatar made 10 saves in net for the Badgers to improve his record to 3-11 overall, while Matt LaClair made a valiant six saves in defeat.

Johnson will next travel to Thomas College on Saturday October 24th for a conference match scheduled for 3:30 p.m, while Lyndon will host St. Joe's of Vermont on the 18th for a non-conference match.
