Badgers Drop Eagles for First NAC Win

JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College men's soccer team defeated Green Mountain 3-2 to earn their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory of the season.

Johnson improves to 2-6 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, while the Eagles fall to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the NAC.

SCORING

1ST Half: - The Badgers picked up all three of their goals in the opening period. Richie Perez (Belmont, N.H.) got the Badgers on the board early when he picked up a loose ball after the Eagles lost possession in their own end and fired a shot from the right side of the box that beat GMC's keeper low. Dominic Caforia (Waterbury, Vt.) picked up his fifth and sixth goals of the season to put Johnson up 3-0 heading into the half, with Perez assisting on Caforia's second goal.

2nd Half: The Eagles spread two goals over the second half by Victor Gollub and Griffin Shelor but were unable to score the tying third goal.

GOALKEEPERS

Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) was solid in net for the Badgers, stopping two of four shots on goal to earn the win. Prior to moving to the field in the second half, Shelor allowed three goals on seven shots and was tagged with the loss. Sawyer Levy stopped all three shots he faced in the second half for the Eagles.
