Badgers Drop Home Finale to Castleton

JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College men's soccer team fell to Castleton University 7-1 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Tuesday afternoon at Minaert Field.

The Badgers drop to 2-12 overall and 1-7 in the NAC. Castleton moves to 5-8-2 on the year and 5-2 in conference play.

SCORING

1st Half: Castleton scored two goals in the early portion of the first half. Jack Kingdon and Fidele Rutayisire were the Spartan goal scorers. Dominic Caforia (Waterbury, Vt.) cut the lead in half at the 14-minute mark when Patrick Miller (Webster, N.Y.) sent the ball into the box to Caforia, who headed it over the Castleton keeper. Seth Wilmott pushed the Spartan lead back to two on a goal in the 43rd minute to send Castleton into the half with a 3-1 lead.

2nd Half: The Spartans scattered four goals throughout the second half, with Kingdon scoring twice and Josh Mathews and Andrew Meister netting one each.

GOALKEEPERS

Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) stopped five of seven shots on goal in the loss for Johnson. Aaron Parker allowed one goal and earned the win.

The Badgers will finish their season on Saturday, October 22nd when they travel to Lyndon State for a NAC contest at 2:30 p.m.
