BOSTON, Mass. – The Johnson State College men's soccer team took a 3-2 overtime victory over Wheelock on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game. Jarod Croteau (Loudonville, N.Y.) notched two goals, including the OT winner, in the victory.
SCORING
1st Half: - The teams took a 0-0 tie into halftime, with Johnson (3-0) outshooting the Wildcats (0-3) 12-6 in the half.
2nd Half: The Wildcats struck first when Ian Sobral scored off a give and go from Pasulayman Sowe. The Badgers answered with their own goal on a cross from Rob Buonanno (Wolcott, Vt.) to Christopher Trivieres (Georgia, Vt.).
Sobral drilled a go-ahead-goal in the back of the net when Wheelock was awarded a free kick in the 79th minute. Johnson continued to apply press in the offensive zone, which led to Croteau scoring the tying goal with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
Overtime: Croteau went on to score the game-winning goal, on a cross from Dominic Caforia (Waterbury, Vt.).
