MSOC: Badgers Blanked by Curry, 5-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Johnson State College men's soccer team fell to Curry College 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.

SCORING

1st Half: - Diego Vargas started the scoring for Curry (3-1-1) in the 10th minute, beating Johnson (3-1) goaltender Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) to take the 1-0 lead. The Colonels doubled their lead in the 18th minute when Giancarlo Orsini scored off a feed from Dave Stapleton. Curry added a third in the final minutes of the half with a goal by Chris Ricca.  

2nd Half: The Colonels extended their lead to four in the 50th minute when Ben Silvia scored an unassisted goal. Ricca Notched his second goal in the 53rd minute to bring the final to 5-0.

Sobral drilled a go-ahead-goal in the back of the net when Wheelock was awarded a free kick in the 79th minute. Johnson continued to apply press in the offensive zone, which led to Croteau scoring the tying goal with less than two minutes remaining in the game.

GOALKEEPERS

Lane (3-1) was given the loss for Johnson, making eight saves on 13 shots. He was relieved by Marcus Holmes (Johnson, Vt.) for the final 15 minutes. Paul DeMaio (1-1) was given the win, stopping the one shot he faced.
