MSOC: Lancers Edge Johnson in OT, 3-2

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Worcester State University on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game. Dominic Caforia (Waterbury, Vt.) notched both goals for the Badgers in the loss.

SCORING

1st Half: - Bryan Brasil opened the scoring for Worcester State (2-1) in the 16th minute on a free kick that skipped in off of Johnson (3-2) goalie Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.). Caforia answered six minutes later with a penalty kick goal to tie the game at 1-1. The Badgers took the lead in the 27th minute when Alexander Vetere (Craftsbury, Vt.) sent a cross from the right wing and connected with Caforia who buried the ball to take a 2-1 advantage.

2nd Half: The Lancers tied things up in the 58th minute when Brasil picked up a loose ball in front, got past Lane and netted his second of the contest to tie the score at 2-2.

2nd Overtime: After a scoreless first overtime period, Brasil completed the hat trick after getting behind the Johnson defense and beating Lane to his left for the game-winner.

Lane (3-2) took the loss for Johnson, making five saves on eight shots. Henri Guilmette (1-0) earned the win, stopping three of five shots on goal.
