MSOC: Badgers Shut Out Green Mountain in NAC Opener

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's soccer team defeated Green Mountain College in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener on Saturday afternoon on Minaert Field. Nick Cosentino (Waitsfield, Vt.) scored his first two goals of the season in the victory.

SCORING

1st Half: - Joseph Holloway (Essex County, England) opened the scoring in the 8th minute on an unassisted goal to give the Badgers (4-2, 1-0 NAC) a 1-0 lead. Dominic Caforia (Waterbury, Vt.) doubled the lead three minutes later, beating Green Mountain (0-3, 0-1 NAC) keeper Griffin Shelor to his right. Cosentino notched his two goals in a span of two minutes, the first coming in the 20th minute off a feed from Rob Buonannno (Wolcott, Vt.) and the second coming off a cross from Caforia in the 22nd minute.

2nd Half: The Badgers made the score 5-0 in the 60th minute on an Alexander Vetere (Craftsbury, Vt.) goal assisted by Caforia. Caforia scored his second, assisted by Kyle Verchereau (Berlin, Vt.), in the 65th minute to bring the final score to 6-0.
