MSOC: Chargers Shutout Johnson, 4-0

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's soccer team fell to Colby-Sawyer College 4-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Sunday afternoon at Minaert Field. 

SCORING

1st Half: The Chargers (7-5, 5-1 NAC) opened the scoring in the 17th minute when a cross from the left wing went to a Johnson (6-8, 15 NAC) defender, who attempted to clear but inadvertently put the ball in his net for the own goal. Colby-Sawyer doubled their lead ten minutes later when a corner kick was deflected off a Johnson player in the box and went to Yannick Gonsalves, who headed it into the open net for the 2-0 lead. The Chargers put another on the board in the 36th minute when Ahamad Raji came down the right side and fed a pass to Mohamed Jafar, who fired the point-blank shot into the right side, giving Colby-Sawyer a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

2nd Half: Colby-Sawyer made it 4-0 in the 59th on a goal scored by Noah Camelo after he found a rebound off of Johnson keeper Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and buried it into the net.

Lane (4-6) was given the loss, allowing four goals on 17 shots. Shane Sacks (6-2) earned the win, recording one save in the shutout.
