MSOC: Johnson Defeats UMaine-Presque Isle 7-0

Johnson Vt. - Five Badgers scored to lead Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's soccer team past the visiting University of Maine Presque Isle Owls on Saturday afternoon at Minaert Field. The Badgers won the contest by a score of 7-0.

With the win, NVU-Johnson improves to 5-1 and 1-0 in the North Atlantic Conference.

SCORING

1st Half: The Badgers opened the scoring in the 18th minute as Freshman Arthur Clayton (Lyme, NH) found the back of the net. The goal was assisted by Elliott Hanna (Milton, Vt.). The Badgers didn't waste any time as they scored their second goal in the 22nd minute. The goal was scored by Rob Buonanno (Wolcott, Vt.). Elliot Hanna finished the half with the third goal of the game off an assist by freshman Nathan Gomez (Eudora, KS).

2nd Half: Johnson came out firing in the second half as Hanna connected for his second goal of the contest in the 47th minute. 11 minutes later, sophomore Jarod Croteau (Loudonville, NY) powered in his first goal of the season off a pass by Daniel Arriola (Romeoville, IL). The Badgers finished strong with goals by Buonnano and freshman Jacob Millette (Fairfax, Vt) to take home a 7-0 win over the Owls.

GOALKEEPERS

Ryan Willette (Wolfeboro, NH) and Abdi Ali Mohamed (Winooski, Vt) both saw time in net for the Badgers. UMaine-Presque Isle's Caleb Thompson takes the loss for the Owls, making nine saves on 16 attempts by the Badgers.

The Badgers will travel to Thomas College on Saturday, September 22nd for their next conference matchup. The game will begin at 3:30pm.
