Badgers Earn Point Towards President Cup in 3-0 Win Over Hornets

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's soccer team defeated the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon Hornets in a North Atlantic Conference match on Tuesday afternoon. The Badgersoutplayed the Hornets bringing home the win by a score of 3-0 and earning a point towards the 2019-2020 NVU President's Cup Challenge.

 

SCORING

1st Half: Daniel Arriola scored an unassisted goal in the 7thminute of action to put the Badgers ahead early in the first half of action. The Badgers controlled the pace in the first half and a foul by Lyndon's Matthew Condon awarded Johnson a free kick that resulted in a goal in the 18thminute by Marquiss Cruz, assisted by Tristan Salgado. The Hornets were unsuccessful in the remainder of the first half trailing the Badgers 2-0.

2nd Half: Rob Buonanno scored an unassisted goal in the 77thminute to put the Badgers up 3-0. The Hornets were unsuccessful, and a strong defensive front led by Wyatt Moberg and Arthur Clayton maintained the lead and eventually the win for NVU-Johnson.

Zach Blaser recorded two saves and played a full 90:00 minutes.

With the win the Badgers improve to 4-4-1 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
