Thomy Mwali Commits to Men's Soccer for 2020 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.-Head Men's Soccer Coach Shane Bufano and the NVU-Johnson men's soccer program have earned another commitment for the upcoming 2020 season. Thomy Mwali a product of Colchester High has signed the necessary paperwork and will attend NVU-Johnson in the fall.

Mwali who is a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the newest addition for the men's soccer program. Mwali came to the United States five years ago and was a student-athlete at Colchester High School in Colchester, Vermont. Mwali was a two-year member of the CHS boys' varsity soccer team who competed in the highly competitive Metro Division in Division I.

On the club circuit Mwali competes for Queen City FC out of the Greater Burlington area. "I chose NVU-Johnson because it seemed like the perfect place to continue my athletic and academic career," said Mwali. "I plan to go as an undeclared major. There are still many things that I am interested in and I hope to find an interest throughout my time at the university."

"I'm really happy to have Thomy continue his academic and athletic career with me at NVU Johnson," said Coach Bufano.  "I've had the pleasure of training Thomy at Queen City as he played for Coach Underwood's U-19s last spring.  He will provide much needed grittiness, raw athleticism and finishing ability in his freshmen year.  I look forward to watching him progress."

Thomy Mwali is the fifth commitment for the Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's soccer program. Head Coach Shane Bufano will announce additional commitments in the coming weeks.
